Beacon Roof X Tender
January 31, 2022 at 6:00 a.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt, RCS Reporter.

In this video series, you will be guided in how to make various repairs to a built-up roofing system.

ROOF X TENDER® by TRI-BUILT™ from Beacon Building Products is a great line of products for repairing and waterproofing existing roofing systems. They have recently created a Built-up Roofing playlist to show contractors how to use these products for a variety of repairs. With penetrations, roof curbs, seams and other details accounting for 80% of roof leaks, Beacon stresses the importance of sealing and reinforcing all of these locations.

Roof X Tender Field Systems Coordinator John Walker hosts the videos which walk you through everything you need to know about making repairs on built-up roofing (BUR) systems. Episodes in the series include:

  • New Pitch Pan Repair – John walks you through how to complete a BUR-SI-3 repair on a new pitch pan using Roof X Tender 981 Butter-Flash™ Silicone Patch & Sealant.

  • Existing Pitch Pan Repair – For repairing an existing pitch pan, John shows you how to perform a BUR-SI-2 or ME-AC-1 repair using the Roof X Tender 981 Butter-Flash Silicone Patch & Sealant.

  • Drain Repair – John demonstrates a five-course method for repairing a BUR-SI-1 field drain using Roof X Tender 981 Butter-Flash Silicone Patch & Sealant and fleece back repair tape.

  • Split Repair – To repair a BUR-AS-2 split, John demonstrates a three-course repair method using the Roof X Tender 100 Rubberized Ultimate™ Flashing Cement.

  • Blister Repair – John shows a simple three-course repair method for blisters using the Roof X Tender 100 Rubberized Ultimate Flashing Cement.

  • Metal Edge Repair – To repair a BUR-AC-3 metal edge, John demonstrates how to use the Roof X Tender 705 Acrylic Roof Patch to complete the repair.

  • Pipe Penetration Repair – John performs a BUR-AC-1 pipe penetration repair using the Roof X Tender 705 Acrylic Roof Patch using a five-course finger wrap and target approach.
